The youth minister of Immaculate Heart of Mary is Karen Gutzeit.  She has been the youth minister since 1999. She has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in regular and special education with additional hours in counseling.  She taught school for 14 years as an elementary and high school teacher and worked 4 years as a high school counselor. She has completed numerous hours of training in youth ministry, attending and participating in various seminars and conferences throughout the United States.  She is the married and the mother of six children, ranging from 4 years old to 25 years old.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parents are needed on a regular basis as chaperones and/or drivers for monthly events as well as the EDGE one day summer mission trip and the week long Life Teen mission trip.  Parents must be approved by having been approved through virtus training, background check and having received and read the booklet on Providing Sexual Abuse. Parents may also become youth ministry leaders.  See the information under Leaders.
