The Eucharist: Source and Summit

"Then he took the bread, blessed it, and gave it to them saying, 'This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.'"  (Luke 22)

The celebration of the Eucharist is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the source from which all the Church's power flows.

The Eucharist is the memorial of Christ's Passover, that is, the work of salvation accomplished by the life, death, and resurrection of Christ; a work made present by the liturgical action.  It is Christ himself, the eternal high priest of the New Covenant, who, acting through the ministry of the priest, offers the Eucharistic sacrifice.  And it is the same Christ, present under the species of bread and wine, who is the offering of the Eucharistic sacrifice.

In keeping with the Third Commandment, Catholics have an obligation to attend Mass every Sunday.

The Director of Religious Education coordinates our Parish First Communion program which includes 2nd graders from IHM School, PREP, Home School & Villa Madonna Academy. Use the Document link on this page for more information.
