Some past accomplishments:
The PTO was able to purchase 28 Mimio’s for the classrooms and 13 overhead projectors in 2008. The cost was $42,438.34. A Mimio is an electronic device that allows teaches to use interactive teaching methods with their classroom.
We purchased a portable microphone, with CD player to be used for assemblies and programs. This was after many requests from families regarding programs held in the cafeteria and the inability to hear their children. The cost was $3,973.75.
The PTO supports four $300 Scholarships for graduating 8th grade school entering a Catholic high school.
The PTO pays for the schools professional license that we must have to show any recorded programs. The cost of this is $210.00
We financially support all the ribbons, awards, Popsicle’s for Track and Field Day. The average cost from year to year is $546.24.
Who is a member of the PTO?
Every school parent is a member of the IHM PTO. We always encourage families to attend the meetings and bring new ideas to the table. We prefer that agenda items be email at ihm_pto@yahoo.com a week prior to the meeting to allow it to be printed on the agenda. If ideas are brought to our attention this is where it will be discussed. Often members are great at bringing us ideas but we need more people to lead the initiatives.
What is the easiest thing that each parent could do for the PTO?
Use the programs we’ve established. For example:
- Kroger’s gives us a 4% rebate on all refillable Kroger Cards. If each family spends $500 a month and they prefilled the Kroger card, then we would make $20 just from that one family.
Thank you for your support that you give the school.
