I am currently the part-time school counselor at IHM. This is my 6th year at IHM and I have 7.5 years of teaching experience. IHM has always been my home, as I have been a member since birth. I attended IHM School through the 6th grade when I entered Covington Latin School as a freshman in high school. Following my graduation from Covington Latin I continued my Catholic education at Thomas More College where I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Secondary Education for grades 5-12. While attending college I knew that teaching was a calling for me. This was a surprise to my family as I had entered college as a pre-med major. I value education and helping our children succeed. This then led me to pursue my counseling degree as I saw so many children who needed more than just a teacher to help them succeed. I completed my Master’s of Education in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama in 2008. On a personal side, I live in Hebron with my husband and our two sons, both of whom attend IHM, they are in grades 1 and 6. I am a product of Catholic Education from kindergarten through college and believe in the value of Catholic education. My children will be the 4th generation in my family to receive a Catholic education. My Dad is a graduate of IHM grade school, St. Henry High School and Thomas More College. My grandparents set the precedent of catholic education. My grandmother graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1944 where she attended on a scholarship. Following that, grandma graduated from Villa Madonna College in 1948. She was given the opportunity to attend due to a scholarship. She had a bachelor’s in English and her teaching degree. My grandfather after going to Holy Cross elementary graduated from Covington Latin School in 1941 and then went to Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. My grandparents had 12 children and made it a priority to send all 12 to catholic elementary and high schools. This great sacrifice of providing Catholic education to their children was passed down the following generations. My husband Bo and I support the sacrifice it takes to educate our children and therefore, I choose to work in a Catholic school and join the many others called to this vocation.
