Gym - Jan Dooley

This is my 14th year teaching Physical Education at Immaculate Heart of Mary. I absolutely love my job. I look forward to seeing the students of IHM come through the gym doors every week.

I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada. I loved growing up in Canada. There are so many beautiful lakes to enjoy! My parents still reside there. I left Canada when I was 18 to attend the Mississippi University for Women College on a volleyball scholarship. It was there that I met my husband, Brian, who was in the Air Force. After I graduated with my PE degree, we got married and the Air Force took us to the Philippines for 3 years. We were fortunate to see many great places in Asia.

After the military, my husband's job settled us in Atlanta, Georgia and now Northern Kentucky.

We have 4 children. My daughter Megan is an Accounting Major and played volleyball for NKU. My son, Gordy is a junior at the University of Louisville. He is studying nursing and runs for the school. My daughter, Paige is a freshman at the University of Louisville. She is studying education and also runs for the school. My youngest is Brendan who is a junior at St. Henry District High School.

I find teaching to be so fulfilling. The students' contagious excitement and the funny things they say always make my day.
