8A - Stephen Landry
I am excited to return for my second year as an 8th grade homeroom, 8th Grade Literature, and 6th grade Social Studies teacher.
I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree from Northern Kentucky University in 2010. While completing the 2-year MAT program, I was a federal officer for the United States Department of Homeland Security at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
My undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Communication Studies from Emerson College in Boston Massachusetts (1989).
Prior to teaching, my business career in automotive marketing research/strategic planning included positions with Maritz Research in Toledo, Ohio, PricewaterhouseCoopers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Detroit, Michigan, and with several local research and consulting firms. During this time, I had the opportunities to complete client and business development project assignments in Canada, Mexico, Poland, Australia, Japan and South Korea.
I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up in metro Washington, D.C. and Boston, Massachusetts. My family and I currently live in Burlington, Kentucky and have been members of the IHM community since 2004. My son Evan (8) and daughter Olivia (11) are students at IHM. My wife Tina, is a registered nurse with Humana Healthcare.
I choose to work in middle school education because I find this age group the most challenging, yet full of tremendous possibilities. Helping these students transition to high school is a great responsibility; I hope that my commitment to their Catholic education will encourage their spiritual, social and academic successes.

| 8th Grade Camp Joy! - Saturday, October 15, 2011Dear 8th grade students and parents,
Thank you for the opportunity to share with you the awesome experience of Camp Joy. Special thanks to our 8th grade parent chaperones: Mr. Darlington, Mr. Timmerman, Mr. Wallenhorst, "adopted Dad," Mr. Mike Wagner, Mrs. Beimesch, Mrs. Gade, Mrs. Jacob, and Mrs. Rebitski, who did a great job helping the Camp Joy staff with all the activities. Additional thanks to Mr. Goodenough and Mr. Jacks for all the planning and preparation, and to Mrs. Dooley, Mrs. Paolucci and Mrs. Wilson for making my second year at Camp Joy another memorable adventure. I hope your 8th graders share with you their memories and thoughts about what they did and learned at Camp Joy.

| 6th Grade Social Studies Weekly Current Events News Article Summary - Friday, September 02, 2011Parents,
NOTE: NO CE ARTICLE DUE 9/12 - HW IS TO WORK ON CHAPTER 1 VOCABULARY WORKSHEET
In order to help students learn more about our world and become "informed citizens," each Friday, 6th grade Social Studies students will receive a current events assignment. Students will receive a form with instructions to guide them in selecting an article and writing a 5-sentence summary of the news they want to share with the class. Please have your child find the article and write their own summary on the sheet provided; it does not need to be typed - I want them to show they understand what the article is about by writing this themeselves.
My goal is for this to be fun, learning activity that students will also share with family members as they learn more about what's going on beyond the walls of IHM.
As we travel the globe each day, I promise we'll be back in time for our 2:15 dismissal!

| Welcome back 8th Grade, Welcome to Junior High 6th Grade! - Friday, August 19, 2011Thank you to all who made it to Open House; it was great to see so many familiar faces again and meet many new parents and students for the first time.
Hopefully in this first short week, we've worked out our new schedule, gotten all the necessary parent forms signed, settled in to our new junior high classrooms and are ready for a full week of school beginning Monday the 22nd.
I will make every effort to update ThinkWave grades on a weekly basis.
I'm looking forward to a great year with our graduating 8th grade class of 2012 in Literature, and with our new junior high students in 6th grade Social Studies.
The best method to contact me is via the school e-mail (slandry@ihm-ky.org). If you prefer to speak, send an e-mail with the best time to reach you via telephone along with specific contact information and I will make every effort to contact you at that time. For anything more urgent, please contact the school office.
Thank you,
Mr. Stephen Landry
